Oranges with Honey and Olive Oil

I came across this simple dish of Oranges with Honey and Olive Oil, which is as surprising as it is simple, in Portugal. It was served by an olive oil producer in a region well known for both honey and olive oil. Just choose varieties with a flavour you love.

Ingredients

  • 6 oranges
  • 2 tablespoons honey, approximately
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, approximately
  • freshly ground black pepper, optional

Instructions

  1. Peel oranges with a knife, removing as much pith as possible. Slice oranges into rounds.
  2. Arrange on a plate and drizzle with honey and olive oil.
  3. Sprinkle with pepper, if desired.
  4. Serve at the beginning or end of a meal, as a snack, or even as a salad or palate refresher during the meal

Notes

Wine: As a palate refresher, this is better without wine.
