Dear Friends
Blair Milan, talented actor, much loved son and brother, incredible friend to so many, died on Sunday April 17, 2011. Blair’s joyful life was suddenly cut short by Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. His family was overwhelmed with support, well wishes and messages of love. Lyndey and her partner, the late John Caldon, Blair’s family and friends teamed up with Charles Sturt University to form the The Blair Milan Fund and you too can help to ensure his legacy will live on for years to come.
Blair graduated as a Bachelor of Arts (Communication –Theatre/Media) at Charles Sturt University in Bathurst with Distinction in 2003 (as did his sister, Lucy, in 2005). As Blair brought passion to everything he did it only seemed right that we pass on his passion and enthusiasm to future Theatre/Media students.
The Blair Milan Scholarship
The Blair Milan Scholarship, inaugurated in 2011 by Lyndey Milan and her late partner, businessman John Caldon is now valued at $10,000 over two years. It is awarded to a second year CSU student who embodies Blair’s generous artistic spirit and attitude. The recipient, selected by Lyndey Milan, Lucy Milan, and Blair’s peers, will be judged first on an excellent written and video application and based on their community involvement, academic and creative achievements, as well as their aspirations and motivation.
In addition to financial support, the scholarship provides the recipient with an opportunity to complete a 2-week minimum Good Times Network Internship, subject to availability. There is also an impressive, supportive alumnae group, facilitated by Lyndey Milan
The Blair Milan Scholarship is committed to fostering optimism, enthusiasm, and passion for the recipient’s their chosen field.
The Fund Raising
Initially over $100,000 was raised so that the annual awards could be funded from the income of the Blair Milan Fund in perpetuity. Lyndey Milan and John Caldon undertook to match dollar for dollar (up to $50,000) the amounts received during the initial fundraising in commemoration of the role played by Blair Milan in their Flame Productions TV series Lyndey and Blair’s Taste of Greece which premiered on SBS and has been seen around the world.
Administration
The Blair Milan Fund sits within the Charles Sturt University Foundation. There are no additional administration costs for this Fund.
