Honeyed Figs with Brioche

The number of figs you will need for this Honeyed Figs with Brioche recipe will depend on their size.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 8 figs
  • 4 slices brioche, from a whole loaf
  • honey
  • 250 g (8 oz) mascarpone or thick cream

Instructions

  1. Melt enough butter to cover base of the frypan. Cut or tear the figs in half and cook them, cut side down, until golden brown, turning occasionally.
  2. Meanwhile toast and butter the slices of brioche.
  3. Drizzle honey over the top of the figs and allow it to bubble up. Remove from heat.
  4. Serve figs on or beside the toasted brioche with mascarpone or thick cream.

Notes

Lyndey’s Note: Tearing the figs gives an interesting appearance. They can also be placed under the griller, cut side up and then drizzled with honey.

Wine: Match the honey intensity here with a late picked or cordon cut riesling or semillon.
