I was thrilled that my friend Deborah Hutton did me the honour of launching my brand new Baking Range last night at Blueprint in Potts Point.
It has been so much fun designing my very own range with Anasazi and putting my own special touches on each piece.
For the tinware collection, I’ve never quite understood why most baking tinware had to be such unattractive colour – dull, grey and well, quite “tin” like, really. I really love the cream colour that we ended up creating which I think adds a touch of vintage glamour to your home baking and cupboards! So elegant, stylish and affordable at the same time. All my tinware is super durable with a dual layer of non-stick coating which increases the durability and scratch resistance as well as oven safe to 270’C AND best of all for busy bakers and cooks – dishwasher safe! In fact every item in my entire baking range as well as my Lyndey Milan Brilliant Cut Knife is dishwasher safe, which helps make cleaning up after a big bake off at home a breeze.
All my bakeware pieces have a special use, so for this first range each piece has its own personalised recipe designed especially for it which is included in the packaging as a bonus to those who buy the range!
This particular piece of my bake range, “Blair’s Springform pan set” is very special to me. The great thing about this piece is that it has two interchangeable bases – your regular flat springform cake base but another insert which means you can bake a large Bundt style cake without having to store two cake tins in your cupboard which is handy for storage! Bundt style cakes are really good for dense or heavy cake recipes as it prevents the cake from having a soggy middle. The recipe I’ve provided on this cake tin is my banana cake with passionfruit icing which I baked for my son Blair’s birthday for every one of his 29 years, and one each year since we lost him to Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. The profit sales from this cake tin all go to the Blair Milan Memorial Scholarship in association with Charles Sturt University which helps support theatre/media students. The silicone pieces from my range are all made from high grade silicone, which is sturdy yet flexible and highly durable. It is fridge, freezer, oven and dishwasher safe – all pieces can be safely used from 0’C-230’C (although it has been successfully tested to 250’C!). The striking hot pink (we love hot pink!) handles not only look great, but they also have clever slots in the underside that help the heat to dissipate faster, lowering your chances of burning your hands when you remove it from the oven. Silicon also cools faster than tin bakeware and does not require greasing which helps save a few calories – why not?? Everything turns out beautifully and then the silicon goes straight into the dishwasher!
My utensil pieces all use eco friendly and sustainably sourced bamboo handles are also dishwasher safe and the silicone heads are non-stick and non-scratch (handy for cooking with your non-stick cookware).
Finally last but definitely not least, my canisters are BPA free food, food safe and use a double expulsion tech to remove and lock out excess air. Firstly the silicone seal expels air and then by pushing down the hot pink silicone button, a double seal is created and food stays fresher longer. The canisters are all rectangular with rounded edges and they stack with each other which is perfect for the most organised cupboard ever. And of course, they are all dishwasher, fridge and freezer safe – what else could you want from your home containers?
Of course it wouldn’t be a launch without good food – we did a high tea themed spread featuring recipe from my latest TV series, Lyndey Milan’s Summer Baking Secrets!
